This is a collection of media, award nominations, anything else that generally makes my face go red. May it continue to grow (the attention, not my face.)
I got on the cover of the Sunday Star-Times Sunday magazine on December 6 2009. I look a bit round-faced and smug on the cover, but then I am pretty round-faced and smug in real life so the lovely photographer didn't do badly all up. Photo taken the morning after the All Whites winning the World Cup qualifier. Not my kitchen!
Included a four page spread about my blog and other NZ food blogs. Possibly the first and only time a [title of show] "die vampire die" tshirt has been seen in the NZ media. I got up at 6am to bake that cake in the background and carried it all the way up to the photoshoot in Karori on the bus.
Plus other excitement via twitter:
In October 2010 something happened that I'm really proud of: I was interviewed by Charlotte Ryan for 95bFM's Morning Glory show. I was nervous (you can tell) but Charlotte was lovely and I highly recommend her radio show even when I'm not onto it. You can listen to the interview right here.
In November 2010 I was nominated for a Wellingtonista Award for Best Contribution the the Internet from Wellington. I didn't win, but the whole process was heaps of fun, not to mention quite the honour. I met lots of fantastic people and I got a certificate! Maybe another time?
In 2010 I was also nominated for CLEO magazine's Palmolive Wonder Woman award in the Blogger category, I didn't win but it was truly fun and unexpected to be nominated. I was also featured in an article on food bloggers in the March 2010 issue of CLEO, which you can read here.
In the December/January 2010 issue of Rip It Up magazine some very nice things were said about me on their back page, which did pleasantly surprise me as it's a music mag. Although they do of course do movies and general pop culture too...anyway it's probably the only legitimate way I'll ever get in there - have you heard me sing?
In July 2011 I wrote a recipe for Critic, the Otago University Magazine. What happened was they said some lovely things about my blog, then I contacted them to say thanks, then they asked if I wanted to contribute a recipe, and I said "would I ever!" You can read the recipe for Peach Sponge Pudding here, just flick through to page 39.
In September 2011 I wrote an article for tv3.co.nz about How to Hunt a Cookbook - a kind of ode to the joys of finding and using second hand cookbooks.
Since mid-2010 myself and Tim have been doing the cafe reviews for the lower North Island edition of Sunday Star-Times. In July 2011 I had an article published about The Food Show in Wellington, and in June Tim and I had an article published about our time in Santa Monica. You can read it here.
As of 2012 I've been approached by a publisher to make my first cookbook. This is indescribably huge, and I'll tell you all more details as they become clearer.
